Foundation stone laid for Model Residential School

MLA O Lukhoi Singh who is a Vice Chairman of Manipur Infrastructure Development Agency (MIDA) today laid foundation stone for construction of Model Residential School at LM block headquarter for the people of Lungchong Meiphai, Ukhrul District.
Speaking as chief guest, MLA Lukhoi highlighted major initiatives taken up by the present State Government to develop Hill districts without any discrimination or prejudice for both hills and valley people.
He also ensured that the State Government has resolved and is fully prepared to construct Model Residential Schools in all Hill districts of the State to provide quality education to the rural students which is being funded by Ministry of Minority Affair GoI to be implemented by MIDA.
According to his statement, the estimated cost for the construction of all the components of Model Residential School which include an academy block, hundred bedded hostel, quarters for staffs and Principal is pegged at Rs 25 crores with 10% matching share for the State Government from total cost.
The MLA further stated that the fund is already deposited in the MIDA account for implementation.
MLA Khashim Vashum who attended the programme as guest of honour urged the villagers of Phalee and Teinem to extend support and co-operate with agencies during construction in order to expedite the work progress.
Khashim also pointed out that many construction works are in the pipeline in line with the project Khelo India.
The MLA also appreciated CM N Biren Singh for showing his personal interest to develop Hill district while accepting his proposed project and sanctioning fund for construction of Model Residential School in the rural areas.
Meanwhile, RN Somingam Chairman Phalee VAC urged the visiting MLAs to construct the remaining portion of LM block headquarter office to function in full swing.
Later, Teinem Youth club and Phalee youth organization mesmerized the gatherings by performing Tangkhul Traditional Victory and Harvesting folk dances while a memorandum was also submitted to visiting MLA O Lukhoi Singh by Phalee Student Union regarding issues of students.
Executive member Khayinghor Valui, ADC member Thanchipem Jagoi, Thuingahan, Themthing DIG, SDO LM block N Robert Priyojeet EE MIDA attended the programme as dignitaries while villagers of bom Phalee and Teinem including the headmen of the surrounding villages also attended the function.
