Imphal, April 29 2013:
Charging State Home Department with indulgence in corruption during recruitment of police personnel in the State, Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) has contended that involvement of security personnel in kidnapping, planting of bombs and other serious crimes, has clearly indicated that the Home Department has completely failed and collapsed.
In a statement signed by its General Secretary Th Inaocha, MPTC hailed the team of Thoubal Police Commandos who arrested 11 Manipur Police Commandos while trying to smuggle out drugs into Myanmar at Pallel yesterday, and said that the State Government should reward the team in recognition of their sincere duties.
MPTC demanded that the police officers involved in the case should be given befitting punishment.
Instead of trying to cover up the faults of insincere police officials, the State Government should punish them in accordance to the law of the land so that similar unwanted incidents do not occur in future.
MPTC went on to observe that involvement of police personnel who are supposed to maintain law and order in the State in breaking the law, has clearly shown that law and order in the State has failed completely.
Furthermore, MPTC contended that if at all the State Government cannot bring about district administration in the hill districts of the State and provide full security along the two NHs of the State, the Chief Minister and the Home Minister should resign on moral ground.
