Imphal, December 26 2011:
Observing that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh may have succeeded in misleading the Assembly but failed politically, Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FREINDS) has asserted that the conduct of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on the motion raised by MLA O Joy on introduction of ILP system during the Assembly session on December 22 has once again confirmed him to be 'a robot dancing to the tune of Central government' .
In a statement, Publicity Secretary of FRIENDS W Santa Meetei said that people of Manipur know very well that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh did not want to introduce ILP system from his conduct of equating the PIL filed for repatriating the foreigners settling in Manipur, particularly, Myanmareses, Bengaladeshis and Nepaleses to their respective countries under Foreigner Act, 1946 with Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 which is in force in Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh and forcing the motion to be withdrawn.
The stoic silence maintained by the rest of the Members in the House, who presumed that whatever the Chief Minister said may be true, has also shown how ignorant they are over the issue of ILP system.
The Chief Minister may have succeeded in misleading the House, but he has failed politically, Santa said.
Appealing to all the political parties to make ILP system their main agenda in the upcoming Assembly election scheduled to be held on January 28, 2012, the FREINDS statement observed that no representative, who would remain dozing in the Assembly during discussion on the issue of ILP system, should be elected.
In case, any individual wants necessary documents on ILP system, they may contact the telephone number 9856276150, the statement added.
