UG cadres held

Imphal, November 23 2017:
A combined team of Imphal East district police personnel and 6 AR, arrested four underground cadres, including those involved in the killing of one non local near Catholic School Canchipur , Liwa Lambi, on November 20 .
The arrested individuals including the recovered weapons used in the crime, were displayed before media persons at SP Imphal East conference hall today.
Briefing media persons, Imphal East SP, K Kabib stated that the four underground cadres were arrested in two different search operations today.
He said that as a part of the intensified security measures for Sangai festival and based on specific information about the presence of some PLA cadres in and around Kakwa Naorem Leikai area, a team of Imphal East district police comprising Additional SP, Wungpam Kasar, DSP (Ops), RK Saklemba, DSP (Commando) K Robinson and led by OC (Imphal East Commando) B Lunthang Vaiphei, rushed to the spot and carried out search operation in some suspected houses after providing information to the control room of Imphal West police.
During the search operation , the police searched the residence of one Naorem Loken alias RK (40) s/o (L) IN Baruni of Kakwa Naorem Leikai, but he was nowhere to be found.
On the basis of the follow up information regarding the presence of the said individual at Kakching, the police team rushed to Kakching and detained Loken for verification near Kakching bazar area at around 11.10 am.
During preliminary interrogation, Loken revealed that 'he is an active member of "PLA and is working under 'the command of one Anil who is also an active member of the outfit.
He also revealed that he had shot dead one non local, Murali Thakur on the night of November 20 near Catholic School, Canchipur Liwa Lambi under the order and direction of Anil.
Loken was arrested from the spot and as follow up action, two other associates involved in the crime were arrested by the district police team from their respective houses.
The police team also recovered the weapon used in the crime along with a magazine and eight live bullet rounds.
The two arrested individuals have been identified as Sanasam Anil alias Tomjao alias Johnson (50) s/o S Khomei of Thongju Part II and Phamdom Ibomcha (40) s/o (L) Ph Gulap Singh of Thongju Part II .
The weapon was recovered from Anil.
The SP said that the arrested individuals will be handed over to Singjamei police station for taking up necessary legal actions.
In the second incident, the same police team arrested a UNLF cadre from Kongba Laishram Leikai and recovered Rs 22,000 in cash.
The SP said that based on specific information about the presence of some active members of UNLF at Kongba Laishram Leikai, the police team launched a search operation in the area.
During the search operation, an active member of UNLF, identified as Keisham Premjit alias Nanao (40) s/o (L) Kulla of Kongba Laishram Leikai was arrested from his residence.
During preliminary interrogation, Premjit revealed that he recently received a sum of Rs 2.5 lakh in cash, for distribution to the family members of their outfit's cadres, through an unknown individual who was sent by one Chaoba of the outfit.
Premjit also revealed that he has distributed around Rs 2.28 lakh to around 46 family members of the outfit till date.
The arrested individual will be handed over to Irilbung police station for taking up necessary actions, the SP added.
