SBI staffer among 10 positive cases

The death toll from Covid-19 in Ukhrul district has reached four after another patient succumbed to the disease at Ukhrul District Hospital (UDH) on Monday night.
The deceased Ningtharla Lohe, a 73-year-old resident of Jessami village, died of Covid-19 complications.
She was the second patient from the village to die from the viral infection.
With this, the district's death toll due to Covid has reached four, all recorded in the current month.
Meanwhile, another 10 fresh positive cases including a staffer of SBI Ukhrul branch have been detected in the district on Tuesday.
Sources said that, contact tracing of the patients is underway and that the SBI Ukhrul branch office inside the mini secretariat campus would remain closed.
Alongside this, the district magistrate has also declared 10 residential areas as containment zone with immediate effect.
According to DSO, the number of total active cases in the district is 121, of which 45 are being kept at the district's transit camp, 18 at the district hospital isolation ward, 13 at Jessami community isolation centre, 3 at Tongou CIC and 1 at Lambui CIC.
On the other hand, the administration of Ukhrul ADC and UDH authority on Tuesday jointly inspected and selected a site within Ukhrul district hospital campus for establishment of an oxygen plant under 15 Finance commission sanctioned to 6 ADCs.
The UADC executive officer Polly Makan and MS Dr Raikhan of UDH were present during the inspection and identification of the site.
Meanwhile, in a show of good gesture, Ukhrul Town Baptist Church on Tuesday donated a sum of Rs 50,000 to Ukhrul District Hospital authority for purchasing necessary equipment, materials and items needed in its battle against COVID-19 pandemic.
An official team of Ukhrul Town Baptist Church including Pastor Somi Kashomwoshi and its members including youth pastor, children pastor, women chairperson and treasurer handed over a cheque of the amount to MS Dr Raikhan.
