FEGOCTA cautions to resume cease work agitation

Federation of Government College Teachers' Association, Manipur (FEGOCTA) has resolved to resume its suspended cease work agitation from November 5 if the State Cabinet fails to approve 7th UGC Pay and Regulation 2018 by November 4 this year.
The resolution was taken today during a special general body meeting of FEGOCTA at GP Women's College.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, one of the teachers contended that the demands put up by FEGOCTA to the State Government are democratic rights of the college teachers.
Continuing that the agitation was suspended on the basis of the written request made to FEGOCTA by the Government of Manipur, he cautioned that the suspended cease work will resume if the State Government fails to fulfil the demand within the given time.
During the meeting, Dr Th Ranjit Singh, DM College of Science; Dr L Deven Singh, Manipur College; L Vaiphei, DM College of Arts; Ashok Roy Choudhary, NG College; Nehzasoi Simte, Churachandpur College; Dr Kh Jugindro Singh, Thoubal College; Dr K Kunjani Devi, Lilong Haoreibi College and H Kumar Singh, YK College were elected as advisors while Dr N Sarita Devi, DM College of Science, Dr Ersilla Jajo, Pettigrew College and Dr RK Babita Devi, Imphal College have been inducted as joint secretaries of FEGOCTA.
It may be mentioned here that the demands of FEGOCTA include implementation of 7th UGC Pay of the teachers of State Government colleges and university and granting all the allowances of DA, HRA, SCA and TA admissible to the Group A employees of the Government of Manipur after the 7th pay is implemented.
FEGOCTA also urged the State Government to adopt UGC Regulation, 2018 to be effective from the date of the issue of the orders by the Higher Education Department.
