Imphal, November 13 2011:
The Navodya Vidyalaya is being established by the Union government to bring out talented students of the rural areas by giving them ample opportunities, said Lok Sabha MP Dr Th Meinya.
Speaking on the occasion of the Fifth Millennium Week 2011 held at the premises of the Millennium Institute of Science, Kwakeithel Mayai Leikai organized by the institute, MP Dr Th Meinya said that in the Navodya Vidyalaya institute established in almost all parts of the country, 80% of seats are reserved for the students of rural areas and the remaining 20% for the students of urban areas.
He further went on to say that there has been quite a change in the teaching and learning method at present as compared with that of the past.
Nowadays the teachers play a more important role in shaping the career of the students rather than the parents.
The Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation which has been put into practice from this year in class eleven is an important part of the process.
The teachers needs to very cautious in giving marks in the internal assessment of their students.
He said that the law and order situation of the state has improved to a considerable level; as such the number of students going outside the state for further studies has also decreased thereby reducing the huge amount of money drained out of the state.
Hamom Nabachandra, Secretary, Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur said that with the implementation of the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation system from this year in class XI, the students will be awarded 20 marks for their internal assessment while the remaining 80 marks will be given by the COHSEM.
He further went on to say that registration certificates will be given to the students of class XII shortly.
School authorities should carefully see that no student is enrolled in their schools without the registration certificate.
The exam for class XII conducted by the COHSEM will be tentatively held in the last month of February or first week of March 2012 .
The number of students appearing in the exam is expected to higher than last year.
