Imphal, November 13 2011:
The proscribed UNLF has rejected the news report broadcast by the news channel Times Now yesterday under the heading 'Manipur CM on terror radar' which reportedly claimed that UNLF was targeting Chief Minister O Ibobi.
The outfit asserted that the news report was a fabricated one based on conjectures, and it was indicative of the mainstream media's attempt to project the liberation movement of Manipur in the wrong light.
A press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba clarified that the liberation movement being waged by the UNLF is to emancipate the people of Manipur for the yoke of alien rule.
The outfit has no intention to target Chief Minister Ibobi or any other individual selectively.
It further blamed the Indian rule for the misery, turmoil and divisions among different indigenous communities being witnessed in Manipur.
Though the Indian military has been given extra-judicial powers to carry on their repressive activities against the people of Manipur, Chief Minister Ibobi and his followers have not raised a single voice, it alleged.
Chief Minister Ibobi and his followers are part and proxy of the alien rule.
If the present crisis in Manipur had happened in other States like Bihar, Bengal, UP or Maharastra, the Government of India would have explored all possible means and exploited all its resources to resolve the crisis.
However, as the crisis happened in an 'occupied territory', the Government of India has no time to share any concern.
All these misery and repressive activities can be done away with only when the people shoulder their due responsibilities and restore Manipur's sovereignty, it added.
