Two-day Ema Brindasabi Ningshing Mandap Leela kicks off

All Manipur Gouranga Leela & Sansenba Artist Association kicked off the two days long Ema Brindasabi Ningshing Mandap Leela at Eigya Yaima Mandap, Uripok Naoremthong Takhellambam Leikai today.
Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, while speaking as the chief guest of the function, underlined the need to preserve and uphold one's culture but also maintained the importance of welcoming new changes by respecting the age old culture.
The past and present is linked or connected through culture and traditions, he said.
The role played by Ema Brindasabi and her tireless contributions in safeguarding and promoting Gouranga Leela will be remembered forever.
Dr Makhonmani Mongsaba, who was also present on the occasion stated that Ema Brindasabi Ningshing Mandap Leela has been organised to commemorate Ema Brindasabi who was a pioneer of the All Manipur Gouranga Leela and Sansenba Artist Association.
The association, during the two days long event, aims to uphold the tradition of Mandap Leela, he added.
Gouranga Leela tradition has subsequently degraded although it was one of the strongest art forms in the State, he said while underlining the need to revive the art form.
Registrar Manipur University of Culture Dr L Surjit and retired IAS Kangjam Radhakumar were also present at the function.
