Imphal, September 11 2016:
After their tree plantation cum social service programme at the picturesque Tumuyon Khullen village, 55 km s north of Imphal in Manipur's Senapati district about 100 days ago, members of Letz Paint the Earth Green, a facebook group and Blooming Manipur took up a flower plantation drive at Chingmeirong Maning Leikai, Imphal on Sunday.
Besides the members of Letz Paint the Earth Green and Blooming Manipur, womenfolk of the Chingmeirong Maning Leikai actively took part in the flower plantation drive in and around the community pond at around 4.30pm on Sunday.
"We, the flower lovers group believe that such small initiative will support the continuous innovative steps to beautify the locality by planting flowers," says S Manjil, a flower enthusiast and administrator of Letz Paint the Earth Green.

"We also hope that such initiative will bring a change in preserving and protecting the environment." Chingmeirong Maning Leikai located on the eastern side of the State's new Assembly complex is perhaps the first locality in and around Imphal where the residents try to keep their locality neat and clean by planting flowers on the road sides.
Interestingly the residents of Chingmeirong Maning Leikai have already started to avoid using plastic water bottle apart from avoiding plastic cups in tea stalls located in their locality.
Elangbam Bishwajeet, a key functionary of Blooming Manipur, which has been making continuous effort to develop a sense of pride and belongingness of the historic women market sheds in the heart of Imphal town by introducing many hanging basket flowers, also appreciated the beautification initiative, which was also supported by Eastern Agro & Chemicals, Uripok.
