Dealers may abandon procurement of fertilizers

Imphal, July 11 2011:
The Authorised fertilizer dealers of the state has made it clear that until and unless the fertilizers procured by them which have been long kept in their respective godown as shares for Ministers and MLA's are lifted off, further procurement of fertilizers will be abandoned from tomorrow.
The decision was made today at a meeting held exclusively for the Authorised Fertilizer Dealers at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen today.
The meeting further resolved unanimously to distribute these fertilizers to the farmers at the rate of Rs.520/bag they are not lifted off by tomorrow itself.
If the government pays no heed to their decision.
The meeting minutely discussed the problems faced by the dealers in the process of procuring the fertilizers from Kamrup district of Assam where the fertilizer industry is located.
Altogether 23 dealers were present in the meeting.
The decision made by the state government to make available Urea at the rate of Rs.520/bag was further strengthen today at a meeting held at the conference hall of the Agriculture office at Sanjenthong today.
The meeting was attended by state Agriculture Minister Ph.
Parijat along with top officials of the department and the fertilizer dealers of the state.
On the other hand farmers of the state have an apprehension that fertilizers will not be made available to them at the appropriate time.
The subsidy given to the transporters for the procurement of the fertilizers has not been sanction till now even though certain amounts have been allotted for the same.
