One day literary forum held

The Research Forum Manipur (REFORM) with the sponsorship of Sahitya Academy, Kolkata on Monday organised 'One Day Literary Forum on Evaluation of Old Manipuri Manuscript' at Lamyanba Sanglen Konung Mamang, Imphal.
Addressing the function as chief guest, the Officer in Charge of Sahitya Academy Kolkata Goutam Paul stated that every region has its own language, tradition and also script, adding that all these social and cultural assets need to be documented well by the present generation so that it could be disseminated to one and all for purposeful discussion.
He further asserted that the points raised during this literary forum are expected to be transmitted well to the general public.
One of the experts participated in the Literary Forum, Dr M Lokendra expressed that language and culture is a vital component for identity of the State.
He also appealed the gathering to maintain identity of Manipur and also to extend all possible help in preserving Manipuri manuscript.
The retired professor of Manipur University Dr H Behari Singh was also present during the function.
The first session was moderated by Prof P Gunindro and Dr M T Achou, Dr W Romesh, Dr M Ranjana were speakers while Sairem Nilbir moderated the second session in which Naoroibam Indramani, Mutua Bahadur, M Gourchandra Singh and Dr N Birachandra discoursed in the workshop.
