South Asian Institute of Rural and Agricultural Management inaugurated

With the objective of boosting youths in the State and abroad thereby imparting a comprehensive form of education system, South Asian Institute of Rural and Agricultural Management (SAIRAM) was inaugurated today at Langjing Achouba, Imphal West District.
Manipur Legislative Speaker Y Khemchand inaugurated the institute in the presence of Patsoi A/C MLA Ak Mirabai Devi and SAIRAM Chairman (also a retired IAS officer) Dr RK Nimai among others.
Speaking on the ocassion, RK Nimai informed that the institute was established by a non-profit company, formed by a group of retired Government employees who had served in different professions.
He said that the intention of forming a non-profit company and running an institute was projected when the collegium of retired officers were discussing about doing something remarkable for the society as their salaries were paid by the taxes collected from the people during their service.
Conveying that the courses for Horticulture, Agriculture Business Management and Foreign Languages will be opened in the institute, he said that the primary focus of the institution is given on agriculture and allied sectors.
He opined that information technology plays a pivotal role in modern form of agriculture and added that the institute gives special focus on imparting wide-range skills and knowledge of incorporating IT technologies in agriculture and allied activities as done in advanced countries.
SAIRAM has a far sighted vision and aspirations for expanding its education system even beyond the realm of the State and the country, he added.
Meanwhile, Khemchand lauded the chairman, director and board of directors of SAIRAM for establishing the institute in the State saying that such initiative will reduce the numbers of students studying outside the State which will in turn prevent the State's economy from draining into other State or country.
On the other hand, Mirabai urged all to encourage and extend support to those who established new schools and educational institutes with good intention.
Establishment of SAIRAM will be able to curtail the shortage of educational institutions in the State at least to some extent, the MLA said.
