Vectors on the move: Four curfew violators test positive

Out of 29 curfew violators who were forced to undergo test for Covid-19 during a mobile testing drive conducted at Singjamei Chinga Crossing on Tuesday, four of them including a woman were confirmed to have contracted the highly transmissible disease.
The mobile testing was carried out as part of the ongoing aggressive mass testing drive being conducted in Imphal West district.
The Covid-19 positive people have been identified as Md Wahidur (27) son of Md Abdul Halim of Lilong, Md Abdul Haque (22) son of Md Fazur Rahaman of Thoubal Moijing Awang Leikai, Md Mujamil (20) son of Md Abdul Samad Uchiwa Wangbal Mayai Leikai and Nazira (40) wife of Md Tolen of Thoubal Keibung Mathak Leikai.
According to sources, CMO Imphal West and Singjamei police station conducted the mobile testing of curfew violators at Singjamei Chinga Crossing from around 5.40 am .
In all, 29 curfew violators were detained and put on RAT to examine presence of Covid-19 and four of them turned out to be positive.
The Covid positive violators were then sent to Lilong quarantine centre by an ambulance.
Meanwhile, Imphal West district police arrested two curfew violators who hit cop while conducting frisking and checking at Kanglatongbi on Monday.
The arrested duo has been identified as Nikhil and Sahil Basnet, both from Kanglatongbi Shatpur.
According to police report, a team police detained curfew violators near Kanglatongbi Mandir around 7.30 pm on Monday.
During the frisking and checking, the two violators punched the cop on duty and ran away from the spot.
Later, police personnel caught the two assailants and handed them over to Sekmai police station.
They were then released on execution of PR bond, it added.
Meanwhile, people of the area lodged a complaint to Sekmai Police station claiming that the police personnel opened blank fire while trying to catch the fleeing duo.
Imphal West district police has conducted an enquiry into the matter.
