Decks cleared for MUSU election

Campus environment of ManipurUniversity is witnessing a visible change with the announcement of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) election a couple of days back after remaining defunct for the last five years.
Several departments of the varsity which are normally delaying declaration of semester exams results have declared pending results today as news about the students' union election swept the campus environment.
Manipuri, Life Sciences and Mathematics Departments declared pending results today.
Students of Economics Department vented their angst as pending results of the department remained undeclared till today.
Amidst the discontentment, a minor scuffle occurred in the Economics Dept office today when an intending candidate from the dept could not submit nomination papers due to alleged closure of office before the end of office timing.
The intending candidate and his supporters stormed the office of the election committee after his nomination was rejected on ground of late submission.
They were told to lodge their complaint to the higher varsity's authority.
Meanwhile, RO of MUSU election 2014-15, Prof N Joykumar said that a total of 11 nominations have been filed for the post of president, secretary, finance secretary, sports secretary and cultural secretary of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) for which election is slated on Nov 12 .
At the same time, 59 nominations have been received for class representatives of each department on the last day of submission of nominations today.
MUSU election would be held this year after remaining defunct for five years since 2009 .
The MUSU Revival Demand Committee was spearheading the efforts to revive MUSU.
Scrutiny of candidates would be held tomorrow at MU's Centenary Hall at 11 am.
Candidates can withdraw the nomination paper till 4 pm of November 10 .
The results of the poll would be declared after the counting of votes from 2 pm of November 12 .
