Imphal, July 25 2020:
The United Villages and Clubs' Organisation (UVACO) and Nambol Area Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (NAMPAL) have appealed to the people of Manipur to be very vigilant and protect themselves from coronavirus without waiting for Government advisories as the imposition of phase-wise lockdown couldn't slow down the transmission of novel coronavirus in the State.
A press release signed by the president of UVACO, Y Ningthemjao said that obeying COVID safety guidelines issued by the Government and experts concerned is of utmost importance as no vaccine has been developed so far for the highly contagious disease.
Stating that allowing non-locals to enter into the State at this point of time is also not advisable, he asserted that entry of outsiders in areas covered by UVACO and NAMPAL is restricted from now on until the situation improves.
He contended that the resolution was taken to save lives.
People should no longer take this pandemic lightly as many Manipuris who have no travel history are also tested positive for COVID-19, he said and asked all to refrain from flouting lockdown norms.
Opining that outsiders entering the State out of necessity or emergency should possess COVID negative certificates and lodged them at a quarantine centre first, he further appealed all to wear a mask and maintain a safe distance from others when in public places.
He also asked all not to go near unknown individuals, especially non locals.
