Ismat, Zenith Academy finally get their due
Minister Okendro vows to punish mockers of Cabinet decision

The long pending incentive awards, which were promised by the State Government to Md Ismat, who topped the CBSE-conducted AISSE, 2011 and Zenith Academy, the school which groomed the topper, were finally handed over to them by Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro during a function at his office chamber in the Secretariat building today.
The incentive awards of Rs 10 lakhs promised to Zenith Academy was handed over to its founder S Manaoton while the incentive award of Rs 5 lakhs announced to Md Ismat was accepted by his father in the presence IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, MLA T Mangibabu, Commissioner of Education P Vaiphei and Director of Education (S) H Deleep.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister M Okendro said that it was very unfortunate that the promised incentive awards have to be handed over only today.
This is truly shameful.
Though claiming that he has nothing to do with the delayed over giving away the cash incentives to Zenith Academy and Md Ismat, the Minister, nonetheless, took over the whole responsibility and offered his apology.
Clarifying over the inordinate delayed in fulfilling the promises made, Minister Okendro recalled that consequent to the Cabinet decision, necessary sanctioned order had been issued on July 19 last and the Joint Director in-charge of Education (S) had been informed to hand over the cash incentives.
However, in defiance of the Cabinet decision as well as the Government order, the Joint Director in-charge was found to have failed in performing his duty, thus giving a bad name to the government.
The Minister assured that an enquiry would be taken up against the concerned officer and necessary action would be taken up.
"To ensure smooth conduct of the enquiry, Th Iboyaima, Joint Director in-charge,Planning/ICT/DDO-5 and Nodal Officer CCR, the officer has been transferred as Principal of Lilong Higher Secondary School, and an order has been issued in this regard", the Minister disclosed.
Furthermore, the Minister assured that in future, the State government see to that necessary measures are taken up in time satisfy the teachers and student community.
S Manaoton, while receiving the cash award, said that he would utilize half of the award money for the welfare of the school and the teachers while the remaining half would be donated to a Children Home.
