Infra-scanner machine to be installed in Ayush Wing, JNIMS

Infrascanner machine which is used to detect any kind of head injury instantly by undergoing a CT scan is to be install in Ayush Wing, JNIMS for the first time in the state.
The Infrascanner machine which is the first of its kind in the state is to be formally handed over to the authority of Ayush Wing, JNIMS by the State Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayentakumar at a function which is to be held tomorrow at RD Wing, Lamphelpat.
Sources from the Health department reveals that the machine is to be given by the department of Ayush, GoI.
Apart from this, 105 oxygen trolleys, 18 ultra sound machines, 7 hot food trolleys, 111 wheel chairs will also be distributed to various CHCs and PHCs by the Minister in the function.
The source further reveals that the ' 15 lakh machine is made in America.
This machine is technically far better than the CT scanner which is used in different hospitals of the state at present.
The helmet shape Infrascanner machine has to be worn like an ordinary helmet and within seconds the machine will detect any sort of injury in the head and tell whether a surgery is required at all or not.
This new machine will help the concerned doctors in treating patients with head injuries in a more scientific way.
Over and above this, taking into account the unavailability of any ultrasound machine and oxygen machines in almost all health centres of the state,the central government has provided the necessary infrastructure in these health centres, said the source.
As the treatment of patients through Ayush therapy has been widely accepted by the people, the state government under the National Rural Health Mission has provided 88 Ayush doctors in different hospitals of the state.
During the year 2010-11, 88,207 patients have been treated under Ayush therapy in district hospitals and around 1,75,585 patients in different PHCs and CHCs.
Ayush OPDs have been opened in 80 PHCs and 15 CHCs and a 10 bed Homeopathy hospital has been opened giving 24 hour service to the people, said the source.
The Department of Ayush, GoI has in principle given a green signal for the opening of an Ayush hospital in Lamphelpat.
Sanction for the project is most likely to come in September.
The required land for the hospital has already been acquired.
As soon as the sanction arrives the construction of the Ayush hospital will be started.
After the completion of the construction of the hospital it will be gradually upgraded into an Ayush Medical College, reveals the source.
