Police detains 32 but released later

Imphal, July 12 2011:
Acting on reliable sources of some underground elements in Nagaram area, Imphal West CDOs, City Police Unit led by DSP S Ibomcha today raided Nagaram area and rounded up 32 suspects and released after verification.
Based on the source, the police team rushed there and surrounded the village from all directions.
They lined up male persons from 15 years to 55 years of ages in the street and verified them.
The operation began from 5 am in the morning.
The police team lined up students, persons without identity cards and persons with identity cards in separate rows and identified them.
They verified all the persons one by one and rounded up 32 youths which the police team suspected with their identity.
They brought the youths at Lamphel Police Station and interrogated them further there.
However, all the 32 youths were later released after further verification.
OC Imphal West CDO Keshochand and OC Lamphel Police Ingocha were also present during the operation.
DSP Ibomcha who led the police team told Hueiyen Lanpao that the steps of police is to prevent any extortion and crimes in the Imphal city in the wake of recent extortion activities and bomb threats in and around the city.
It may be mentioned that 30 youths were also rounded up in a similar operation at Dewlahland two days back by Imphal West CDOs which were also released after further verification.
