SSA uniforms distributed to Govt students

Imphal, July 12 2011:
School uniforms provided under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme were distributed today to 842 students studying in 15 different schools located within Keishamthong AC.
The school uniform distribution function held at Keishamthong Boys Junior High School was attended by Health Minister L Jayantakumar, IMC Chairperson N Raghumani, IMC Councillors M Sunil, Ph Memchatombi and A Ramakanta as chief guest, president and guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Health Minister Jayantakumar who held the Education portfolio earlier said that the Government of India has enforced the Right to Education in addition to taking several schemes like SSA, RMSA etc.
With the changing education scenario, teachers should now have to face Teachers' Eligibility Test.
Saying that Right to Education Act encompass private schools too, Jayantakumar stated that private schools cannot act on their own whims as if schools are business enterprises.

He informed the gathering that the Government is working to introduce school health programme, and that the same programme may be launched in some schools of Imphal West district within the current month.
