Kha-Lam Tata Magic Owners' Cooperative Society Ltd, Kakching has warned of launching several agitations if two vehicles - allegedly commandeered by a group of people identifying themselves as members of an underground organisation on October 9 last - are not returned to the respective owners within five days.
A statement issued by secretary of the KTMOCS, S Premananda informed that two Tata Magic vehicles were forcibly hijacked by some people claiming themselves to be members of a particular militant group on October 9 from Koirengei Catholic Medical hospital.
The two vehicles bear registration numbers MN 04 A-2981 and MN 01 W 4880 .
The owners of the vehicles were Ayekpam Mangi son of (L) Birjit and Samurailatpam Sudam son of S Nipamacha .
According to the statement, a youth hired the two vehicles to get some blankets from Koirengei.
At Chingmeirong, two other youths boarded the vehicles.
They went till Catholic Medical Hospital, Koirengei.
The youths then, after identifying themselves to be members of a particular underground group, asked the drivers to leave the vehicles with them as they have some purposes to use them.
The drivers resisted the plea.
Then they were persuaded under duress to leave their vehicles, the statement added.
Stating that the vehicles were purchased on loan, the statement warned that the Society will launch intense agitation including suspension of passenger services if the two detained vehicles are not returned to the owners within five days.
