Somorjit Salam takes charge as new Kangpokpi DC

Former Senapati DC, Somorjit Salam has taken charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi today.
The handing and taking over of the charge was conducted at Conference Hall, DC Kangpokpi between the outgoing DC Lalithambigai Kalidas, and Somorjit Salam in the presence of District Level Officers including the Addl District Magistrate/ADC Kangpokpi.
Somorjit Salam was warmly welcomed by the local bodies of Kangpokpi DHQs including Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization and Kangpokpi Youth Union when he arrived at the District Headquarters.
A giant banner was also hung by the local civil bodies with the inscription, "Welcome Pu Somorjit Salam, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi".
Somorjit Salam expressed his happiness to take charge of Kangpokpi as DC while extending the best wishes to the outgoing DC Lalithambigai Kalidas, who will take charge of Senapati DC from today.
He also assured to work sincerely for the welfare and development of the District while soliciting the humble support and cooperation of the people to go forward.
After handing and taking over charge ceremony was over, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District leaders led by its secretary, Lamminlun Singsit, welcomed the IAS officer at his office chamber and wrapped a traditional shawl Saipikhup to show their warmest greeting on behalf of the people of Kangpokpi district while strictly maintaining the protocol of social distancing.
The new DC Kangpokpi decided to avoid public meeting for a few days and will attend the office as and when needed only.
He will mostly function from his quarter for a few days.
The IAS Officer was reportedly tested for COVID-19 and his result was found negative.
However, considering the protocol, he volunteers himself to avoid public meeting and office for another few days, which was well appreciated by the public of Kangpokpi for his bureaucratic wisdom and down to earth attitude in following the National directives.
