22,775 to appear in HSSLC exams

Imphal, March 15 2011:
The HSSLC (Class XII) examination of the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CHSEM) will begin tomorrow.
A total of 22,775 students of science, arts and commerce streams are expected to appear in the exams which will be conducted in 56 centres.
Out of the total 22,775 students, 6,608 of them are from the arts stream, 15,512 from the science stream while 655 students will be from the commerce stream.
The number of enrolled students for appearing in the exams shows an increase of 3,100 from the previous year.
Of the 56 centres where CHSEM is to conduct the exams, 26 are at the council's centres while 30 are private centres.
The exam will continue till April 11, according to an official of CHSEM.
All arrangements for the smooth conduct of the exam has been completed, Dr Hamom Naba, secretary CHSEM told Hueiyen Lanpao today.
He said that they have written to the DGP for enforcing security in and around the exam centres to prevent any untoward incidents.
For Imphal west district, details of the security measures taken up by the police has been intimated to CHSEM by the Senior SP of the district.
Imphal East SP will also provide the same later today, he added hinting that no such intimation had been received by his office at the time of interaction with this newspaper.
For the council, 25 flying squads have been formed to inspect the exam centres during exam hours.
Each team will have four members and will conduct checks at the exam centres.
They will also check students from using unfair means in the exams.
The secretary also sought the cooperation from parents, guardians and social organisations, civil societies, women bodies, etc.
to see that a smooth conduct of the exams is carried out.
He further appealed not to call bandhs, blockades or any other kinds of protests which will disturb the normal movement of the students and the conduct of the exams.
The exams for Class-XI which is also to be conducted by CHSEM will start simultaneously.
A total of 19,950 will appear in the exams which would be conducted in 136 schools across the state.
The exams will conclude on April 7 .
