Truck loads of zarda seized at Chandel

Imphal, May 28 2013:
Two trucks and two Tata Sumo jeeps fully loaded tobacco products (Zarda) have been seized by troops of 20th Assam Rifles from Larong village, Chandel district this afternoon.
The two trucks and Tata Sumos were heading for Indo-Myanmar border when they were intercepted by troops of 20th AR at about 3.30 pm.
The two Shaktiman have registration numbers MN-01A/0446 and MN-041A/7899 while the two Tata Sumos bear registration numbers MN-01/4461 and MN-01A/0498 .
Drivers of the four vehicles have been identified as Anglin of Sugnu, Krishnam-ohon of Kakching, Roshan of Moreh and Momo of Pallel.
Assam Rifles have been undertaking due procedures to hand over apprehended drivers and the seized articles to relevant State authority.
Monetary value of the seized goods could not be worked out so far and State police have not disclosed anything.
