Police rescues kidnapped driver

Churachandpur Police has today successfully rescued a Tata Magic driver who was kidnapped for ransom yesterday at about 3pm from Kaparang village along the Tedim Road, about 10 kms from here.
Md Bahadur Rahaman (28) s/o Md Tayahei Ali of Thoubal, according sources, was driving a Tata Magic Van (MN 04A-7338) when a group of men intercepted him at Kaprang and kidnapped him for ransom.
According to the police, the kidnappers have demanded Rs 5 lakhs in exchange for Rahaman.
On receiving an input that money was due to be exchanged at New Bazar, the police swung into action and apprehended one of the kidnappers identified as Jamson alias James Lhungdim (35) s/o (L) Ngulkhohem Lhungdim of Zion Veng, Tuibuong.
Based on the interrogation of Jamson, the police have again apprehended two others from Zion Veng, Tuibuong and eventually rescued the kidnapped driver as well as the Van from the same locality.
Police have identified the other arrested duo as Suantinpao alias Obed Haokip (30) s/o Thienthang Haokip of M Songel and Letngam Tuboi alias Ngamboi (30) s/o Janglhun Tuboi of Khomunnuom.
Meanwhile, UTLA has clarified that Jamshon alias James was suspended from the organization after he was involved in the kidnapping of Chajang Village chief in Sadar Hills on Nov 10, 2012 and claimed that the organisation is ever since unaware him and his activities.
