Imphal, July 25 2021:
Notifications issued by the state government regarding Chief Minister's Covid-19 Affected Livelihood Support Scheme and circulation of application forms on social media by some individuals have created confusion among the general public.
Sources said that the social welfare department, through which the scheme is to be implemented, has not issued any application form.
However, format of an application form is being circulated on social media and some individuals are even selling the form at Rs 100 to 200.In some assembly constituencies, politically motivated individuals are distributing the form to every household and promising benefits of the scheme while asking them to support some particular candidates in the forthcoming election.
In the meantime, a notification issued by the transport department that informed drivers of public transport service and school van service to submit application form along with photocopies of the required documents on or before July 27 has irked many.
The state government declared total curfew for 10 days in a bid to contain the upsurge of Covid-19 cases in the state on July 18 and it will continue till July 27 .
Some transport organisations and school van drivers told The People's Chronicle that they do not understand from where they could get the form and how they could submit the same to the department office during the total curfew.
Besides, the short period of just two days will create huge crowding in front of the department office amid the Covid-19 pandemic, they pointed out.
Speaking to TPC, social welfare director Ngangom Uttam made it clear that the department has not issued application form for the scheme as of now.
The form available on the website is just a proforma and it will need further modification.
The department will issue official notification regarding issuance of form, submission and place where the form will be available.
Social welfare secretary had already issued a notification in this regard, he added.
The director further informed that he had sent letters to the directors of transport, TA&H, art & culture, and MA-HUD to submit lists of potential beneficiaries of the scheme, who are already registered with them on or before July 27.The communication was made in line with the state cabinet's decision to implement the scheme as soon as possible.
However, some departments are facing inconveniences due to lack of proper data.
Besides, it was found that the transport department issued the notification due to some communication gap and also with the objective of ascertaining the exact figure of potential beneficiaries.
The department has been requested to extend the last date of form submission, he added.
Mention may be made here that an infographic shared by one of the state government's social media handle MyGov mentioned the deadline for submission of application form for the scheme as August 7 .
