Imphal, June 25 2011: Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh today reminded that the UNC's demand for a alternative arrangement of administration in the areas dominated by Nagas Centre will never be accepted by the state government.

As the country is a democratic set up, any organisation can put up their demands to the Central government as the UNC as done so.

However, the state government is opposed to the UNC's demands, he said.

The proposed May 30 tripartite talks between GoI, GoM and UNC, mention may be made, was postponed on the request of the state government citing that no agenda for the talks was provided to the state government.

When reporters questioned the CM said that his government is giving strong pressure to the Prime Minister and Home Minister to explain its stand on the issue.

At the same time UNC is insisting that the agenda of the talks would the demands contained in the memorandum they submitted to the Prime Minister recently.

When reporters pointed out that the memorandum of the UNC, includes their demand for an 'alternative arrangement', Ibobi said that there is no need for raising the question as government will at no cost consider the demand for a separate administration for the Nagas in Manipur.

Answering to further questions, the CM said that the Centre has agreed to the setting up of a separate High Court for the state and the Union cabinet will take a decision in this regard and it likely to introduced as a bill in the Parliament in its monsoon session.

He further said that the recent death of a student from the state in Bangalore was discussed with the DGP.

Police is collecting information on the circumstances leading to the death of the student.

As the report is pending, government is yet to initiate any action, he said.

With regard to the acquisition of land at Kabo Leikai for upgradation of Hotel Imphal to a five-star hotel, he said that there is a high demand for such a hotel as Manipur is becoming an important destination for the Trans-Asia Highway.

Government wants to keep such a hotel at a proper place considering the highway which would pass through Myanmar, Thailand and then to India.

He asserted that there were some differences over the land take over process at Kabo Leikai earlier to the previous decisions of the government.

Earlier, land of an individual was not entirely taken over by the government.

But in the case of Kabo Leikai, some of the families have to be shifted to a new place as a 1.5 acre land is to be acquired by the government, he said.

Government is keen to bring an amicable solution with the affected people.

It is willing to provide alternative locations near the Don Bosco High School at Chingmeirong or near the 24 AR camp.

Government will not take a hasty decision to evict them but will deal with humanitarian concerns, Ibobi assured.

CM, O Ibobi referred to a list of candidates eligible for the recruitment of 536 graduate teachers under Rashtriya Madyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) on regular basis.

Ibobi said that out of the 3059 eligible candidates, 1917 would be listed out for the DPC.

The selection of candidates to face the DPC will be made on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in Class-X onwards.

The government will recruit 536 posts of graduate teachers under RMSA, which includes 201 posts in Arts, 134 posts in Science, 67 posts in Mathematics, 67 posts in English and 67 posts in Language graduate teachers.
