Imphal, December 22 2014:
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD and PR) Minister Francis Ngajokpa released the 2015 wall and table calender of Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency (MSRRDA) today at his office at South Block, Secretariat.
Both the calenders were prepared by the MSRRDA.
It highlight the ongoing road and bridge constructions in the State under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) .
The release function was attended by RR and PR Principal Secretary JC Ramthanga, Joint Secretary Neeta Arambam, MSRRDA Chief Engineer N Bapuchand and other officials of the department.
Speaking at the occasion, RD and PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa said the State has been recommended as the best performing State in the whole of North East during the PMGSY regional review meeting held at New Delhi.
Reiterating the objectives of PMGSY, the Minister said the underlying idea of lauching the project in the State was to promote rural connectivity.
The continual unrest in the State and the resulting inabilty of officials to visit villages has delayed the construction works for the project.
One of the other reasons for the delay, according to the Minister, is the short working season of the State.
The Minister has therefore appealed to contractors to complete the construction works under PMGSY at the earliest.
The 9th phase of PMGSY listed 200 works with a sum of Rs 577 crore sanctioned to the State for the purpose.
Work orders for the 9th phase has already been issued, the Minister informed.
The processing of e-tenders for a calculated number of 208 works with an estimated budget of Rs 630 crore for the 10th phase of construction works under PMGSY would be completed at the earliest, the Minister added.
The Minister further expressed hope for a better rural connectivity once the construction works under the said phases are completed.
