'Sericulture Development' workshop

A two-day workshop cum training programme on 'Sericulture Development' organised by Imphal sub-station of North East Institute of Science and Technology Council of Scientific and Industrial Research has commenced from today at the Sub-station's Lamphelpat premises.
Health Minister L Jayantakumar and CSIR-NEIST (Jorhat) Director Dr PG Rao were respectively the chief guest and president of the inaugural programme which was also attended by Director (Sericulture) G Simte, CSIR-IICT (Hyderabad) Chief Scientist Dr USN Murty, CSIR-IICT (Jorhat) Chief Scientist Dr BG Unni and RTRS (Mantripukhri) Scientist D Dr K Chaoba Singh as the guests of honour.
Resource persons noting quality muga products by the local weavers stressed on the need for relying on technology to enhance production.
They emphasised on the local weavers' participation at training programmes regularly for an update on technological advancement and scientific method of rearing and preservation of cocoons.
