The state Cabinet has approved appointment on compassionate ground three next of kins of the victims who died in the June 18, 2001 firing incident.
While decision to effect the compassionate appointment is over and above the 15 appointments already approved by the Government, and was figured in the un-listed agenda of the Cabinet meeting held tonight it was also decided that Imphal Municipal Council would be upgraded to a Corporation along with establishment of offices of the Ward Development Committees and Nagar Panchayats.
The Cabinet session presided by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh also approved creation of posts concerning electricity Ombudsman and supporting staff in the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for Manipur and Mizoram.
Other agenda taken up for discussion and consequently approved by the Cabinet included placement of principals in the higher pay scale, the Manipur Grant of Incentive Award for Marriage of persons with disabilities, engagement of two sister tutors in Health Department, engagement of staff on contract basis in the State Wakf Board, filling up vacancies in the disaster Management Institute (Manipur) on contract basis and extension of the term of contract engagement of three Divisional Accountants of Irrigation and flood Control Department for a period of five months.
Out of 21 agenda listed for deliberation by the Cabinet, three were deferred for discussion at another meeting while the others were either withdrawn or eluded consensus.
