Imphal, October 20 2011:
Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phom (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has denounced as unjustified the decision of Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) to ban one particular organising committee from celebrating Gaan-Ngai at the state level on alleged charge of tarnishing the the rich traditional festival of Zeliangrong community and forming a new committee called "Gaan-Ngai Committee 2012 (ZU-AMN)" for celebrating the state level Gaan-Ngai 2012 in a grand way to expose the rich cultural and traditional festival of Zeliangrong to the outside world.
In a statement, General Secretary of Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phom (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) Chaoba Kamson asserted that there is no harm in celebrating Gaan-Ngai festival in traditional form either at the state level, district level or village level, just like Lui-Ngaini, Kut, Mera Houchongba, etc and no organization should have monopoly over the celebration of Gaan-Ngai festival.
