'Procure goods at all costs'

The meeting of the four women organizations held today at Manipur Press club has unanimously resolved that the government should take up every possible step to procure goods from outside the state along the NHs of the state and the economic blockade initiators should come up with other means to achieve their demands.
The Kangleipak Apunba Lamjing Meira Lup, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, Apunba Manipur kanba Ima Lup and Women Civics Action Kangleipak organized the public meeting where various resolutions were taken.
Among these various resolutions include demanding that the essential commodities should be made available to the general public, the Price Fixation Committee should be made functional and goods at the government rate should be made available to the people at all times, fair price shops should be opened and all the PDS items should be made available to the people in almost all parts of the state, the government should look into the matter of availability of stocks in shops and check the hoarding of goods, essential goods should also be procured through the Imphal-Moreh road by increasing the items included in the Indo-Myanmar trade, a new policy should be initiated to establish an Economic Development Council for each ethnic group.
The meeting further resolved that if in case the government fails to fulfill the demands,.various agitations will be taken up.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Amar Yumnam said that due to ill governance of the state for the last 60 years, the various ethnic groups in the state are on the verge of waging war against each other.
The present economic blockade will come to an end one day or the other.
But the communal ideas among the various ethnic groups will remain forever.
If these communal ideas are to be got rid of than we should all try and mix with the outside world.
