Five UG cadres nabbed, huge cash seized

Imphal West police today claimed to have nabbed five UGs belonging to the banned Kuki National Front (KNF) and Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) group of Lamyanba Khuman involved in abduction of two labourers of HVS Construction Pvt Ltd along with huge cash.
Briefing the media at his office, Additional Superintendent of Police (LO), N Herojit Meitei said two KNF militants and another two KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) militants were arrested by different police commando teams of the district police including teams of Thoubal and Bishnupur police commandos during separate operations carried out in the last 24 hours.
The arrested members of KNF are Doujagin Haokip alias Beeny, 35, son of Thongkhomang Haokip of V Vengnom laozon Veng, Churachandpur district and Takshellambam Anand alias Max Singh, 38, son of T Yaima Singh of Kangchup Songlung, Senapati district.
They were pulled up by the commando team from Nagamapal area yesterday evening around 5:30 pm, he said.
One AK-56 rifle with one magazine and nine live rounds were recovered from them, the SP said.
He said that from the disclosure of the arrested two KNF members, one KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) member, namely Naorem Kheman alias Prem Singh, 36, son of late N Kala of Thoubal bazaar was arrested near Thoubal United Bank of India around 7 pm yesterday.
From his disclosure, another two members of the KCP group, namely Angom Ibochouba alias Punshiba alias Lanchaiba, 38, son of A Ibomcha of Moirang Khoiru Leikai and Khuraijam Helemjit alias Naochouba, 26, son of Kh Munal of Mayanglangjing Tamang were also apprehended from Nambol bazaar on Wednesday around 6:30 am, he added.
Rs 7 lakh in cash was recovered from the possession of Naorem Kheman, he further informed.
One 9 mm pistol with one magazine, three rounds, one .32 caliber pistol with one magazine and two live rounds were seized from Angom Ibochouba and Khuraijam Helemjit, the SP said, adding another four mobile handsets were also seized from the possession of the five militants, SP Herojit said.
All of them admitted that they were directly involved in the abduction of the two labourers, namely Hawaibam Suresh, 22, a resident of Khaidem Awang Leikai, Luwangpung and Jalauddin Barbhuiya, 27, a resident of Appin village part-II, Hailakandi district, Assam working for HVS Construction Pvt Ltd, the SP added.
