TYC appeals for relaxing UNC bandh

Considering the hardships being faced by the people of the state, who are stationed outside, Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Youth Congress has appealed to United Naga Council (UNC) to relax its bandh along NH 2 so as to avoid causing further hardships to the people while coming home.
Addressing a press conference at its office at New Checkon here today, President of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Youth Congress, P Premananda said that the violence erupting against northeasterners in Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad in the aftermath of the riots in Assam is a serious issue concerning the lives of thousands of North East people and it should not be taken lightly.
The Central Government should take up stringent measures to avoid unwanted incidents from happening.
The state government should also take up appropriate steps to solve the problems faced by the Manipuri students in these southern states, he observed.
He further appealed to the State government to look after the problems being faced by Manipuri students who are stranded at Guwahati due to the bandh along NH 2. A delegate of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Youth Congress under the leadership of MLA Th Bishwajit has been sent to Guwahati to help the stranded Manipuris.
RS Ngachani, VP, Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Youth Congress, who was also present at the press conference appealed to UNC to relax its 96 hours total bandh along NH 2 from August 20 in the interest of the student community of Manipur.
