"UCM and the people of Manipur will not sway from their stand"

United Committee Manipur (UCM) president Sunil Karam has appealed to the people to take a stand which has never been taken before in the history of Manipur, if the Central Government repeatedly attempts to harm the integrity of the State and the interest of the people.
He was speaking at a public meeting organised by Northeast Sporting Club, Nongpok Sekmai and Ukhongshang Nongpok Sekmai, Ingourok Apunba Meira Paibi at Nongpok Sekmai, Thoubal district today, as part of the ongoing sit in protests and rallies, under the aegis of UCM, against the possible extension of Article 371 A or any such similar Act which may harm the interest of the people of Manipur.
Stating that the Naga Peace Accord signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM on August 3, 2015 has started to show its impacts on Manipur, Sunil warned that UCM and the people of Manipur will not remain mere spectators if the Peace Accord includes any agreement which may affect the integrity of the State.
Warning that the tactics of the Central Government following the whims and fancies of the NSCN-IM should not affect the State in any manner and at any cost he cautioned that UCM along with the people will never sway from the stand to safeguard the integrity of the State.
UCM secretary organisation, Ng Deben Singh, secretary Khuraijam Athouba, vice president Ksh Somorendra along with elderly and Meira Paibis took part in the meeting.
Meanwhile, a torch rally was organised by Thoubal Wangkhem Apunba Meira Paibi Nupi Lup and Wangkhem Youth Club (WYC), under the aegis of UCM, today.
The rally was taken out against the Framework Agreement and extension of Article 371A or a similar Act, from Wangkhem Bazar till Yairipok Bazar, reports our correspondent.
The protesters demanded that the Central Govt to refrain from taking up any actions which can affect the integrity of the State and create tension among different communities which are residing in the State.
