Willong circle wants BRO for NH-129/A works

Joining the protest against the handing over of the newly recognized National Highway-129/A (Maram-Peren road) to State's PWD department, the Willong Circle youths has appealed the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, New Delhi to revoke the order of NH-12037/55/2013/SARDP-NE for the greater interest of the District.
Earlier, the Willong Circle has also opposed the handing over of the same from BRO to State's PWD department.
Minister Francis Ngajokpa had also requested the Ministry to change the handing over decision so as to serve the purpose and fulfill the long cherished dreams of the people in having a National Highway which is maintained by BRO, an agency that has till today maintained the Maram-Peren road effectively.
According to the order, the Superintending Engineer (NER-C) Road Development has written to the Principal Secretary works, Government of Manipur for immediately taking over of the NH-129A (Maram-Peren) to the Manipur State Government within April 10 .
Dismayed with the decision, the circle youths have reaffirmed its demand for handing over the highway to the BRO.
Apart from Willong Circle villages; many Zeliangrong villages have also expressed displeasure over the issue.
The 108 Km route starting from its zero point located at Maram Center touching the NH-2 will touch Peren District of Nagaland and finally end at Dimapur.
