Imphal, November 14 2020:
The 131s' birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was observed today at Congress Bhavan, Imphal.
CLP Leader Okram Ibobi Singh and MPCC president, Moirangthem Okendro led the offering of floral tributes to the statue of Jawaharlal Nehru.
Addressing the gathering, O Ibobi Singh talked about how Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru played an important part in the freedom struggle of India as well as his efforts to make the country a superpower.
He said, "What India has achieved today as a superpower country is all because of our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
It did not happen in a matter of 5 or 10 years and this vision was brought to life because of his sacrifices.
He was a committed leader and a dedicated freedom fighter.
I am proud to be a part of this auspicious event as we are able to pay respects to him on his 131st birth anniversary.
I say that no Congress workers should feel disheartened as we live in a democracy and ups and downs are bound to happen.
Our duty, irrespective of whether we are in power or not, is to serve the people at our level best.
This will always be our truth".
MPCC president M Okendro described Jawaharlal Nehru as an architect of modern India.
On top of bringing reform in social, economic and political aspects of the country, he set up the Children Film Society of India in 1955 to provide a platform to showcase the talents of the children.
In the field of education sector, he set up numerous technical institutions including AIIMS, IIT, and IIM.
