Imphal, April 13 2013 :
Amidst hue and cry of the opposition parties against any move of the State Government for privatization of health sectors in the State, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing has categorically stated that it is for improvement in health sectors that the State Government has taken up the decision of privatizing the health sector.
"So, I am in favour of the Government decision", the Health Minister said, while speaking as the Chief Guest of the inaugural function of "Spring CME 2013" held at Mother's Care Children Hospital, Sagolband Moirang Leirak here today.
The Minister further stated that it is with the sole motive of developing some of the government hospitals that the State Government has decided to privatise these hospitals through PPP model.
However, there are some sections of the society which are against the decision and are coming out with unwanted statements through media.
These sections of the society should understand that the decision of the State government has been taken to bring about improvement in the existing health care facilities for the people, Minister Phungzathang asserted.
He went on to point out that there have been numerous consultations with regard to poor health care facilities in government hospitals as compared to private hospitals.
It has been observed that it is not because of good doctors and nurses in the private hospitals that people go there.
In fact, all the good doctors and nurses are in the Government hospitals, but there is total failure in the management section.
And so, the State Government has decided to do all the needful to develop the government hospitals in the State.
On the occasion, the authorities of the Mother's Care Children Hospital announced free ambulance facilities and Ultra Sound testing facilities to the poor people of the State.
The function was also attended by MLA Dr Ng Bijoy; Dr TM Singh of Bradford City; Dr Shah Alam Khan of AIIMS and Asst Prof Dr Amuchao Soraisam of University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
