Only buyers come at handloom exhibition

Imphal, April 13 2013 :
In the ongoing Handloom and Handicraft Mela being organised by Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans CS Limited, Paona Bazar under the aegis of Directorate of Commerce and Industries, Government of India at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, only buyers come to visit the exhibition, designers Yumnam Ibotombi and Ningthoujam Ibomcha have informed.
All the 66 stalls in the exhibition have been reportedly provided to the exhibitors free of cost.
Only local made indigenous cotton and silk fabrics are on sale; none of products from outside are being sold/showcased in the exhibition.
The main objective of the exhibition is to provide a platform for buyers and sellers of indigenous fabrics, they explained.
They also informed that response of the buyers is great and on an average each exhibitor earned around Rs 35 thousand per day.
For the year 2013, just after the Sangai Festival concluded, the handloom exhibition has been organizing in different parts of the state.
A day after the present exhibition culminates on 15th April 2013, a similar exhibition would be held at Sagolband Bijoy Govinda from 16th April, 2013 .
