All payment through Direct Cash Transfer, says CM Ibobi

Imphal, April 13 2013 :
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has informed that the State Government is planning to make all payments including pensions of Government employees, old age pensions and various other schemes through transfer of cash directly to their personal accounts.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the Annual Get-together of the officers and employees of the Treasury and Accounts, Government of Manipur, at the Banquet Hall of 1st Manipur Rifles today.
The Chief Minister further stated that in a State like Manipur where there are no resources of its own, the Finance and Treasury Department play an important role in transaction of fund.

He pointed out that the State suffered a deficit of less than Rs 100 crores at the end of the financial year this time.
The deficit rate has been drastically reduced as compared to deficit of last financial year, which was around Rs 596 crores.
This was because the Government gave priority only on the necessities and made use of money in a cautious and thrifty manner, the Chief Minister maintained.
Principal Secretary, Finance, Barun Mitra and Commissioner, Art & Culture, Dr RK Nimai also took part at the function.
