Imphal, April 07 2012:
Although Communist Party of India (CPI) failed to come up with a single successful candidate in the recently held elections to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, the party would play a major role of the Opposition from outside, Dr M Nara, Secretary of CPI, Manipur State Council has exclaimed.
Fielding questions from mediapersons today, Dr M Nara recalled that CPI was going along with Congress party for the last 10 years as a partner in the SPF government and tried its level best to solve various issues in the interest of the people.
However, with Congress doing everything at its own discretion, it never consulted CPI for anything.
So, efforts of the CPI to ameliorate the suffering of the people suffered a serious setback.
He further stated that in spite of CPI's inability to elect a single member in the State Assembly, the party would still observe each and every move of the ruling Congress party from outside.
The party would also try to mend its mistakes and go along with the people on all issues.
CPI would also teach the Congress a lesson for misusing the funds sanctioned for various developmental processes.
The party would also highlight the issues of the state as well as the country to the people and rectify the faults in the system along with the support of people.
Analysing reasons behind the downfall of the party in the recent elections to the 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly, Dr M Nara observed that it was all because of abundant use of muscle and money power by Congress.
The recently elections was nothing but a 'festival of throwing out money' to the public, Dr Nara alleged, adding that all the government employees have also be bought.
On the controversy over use of EVMs in the Manipur elections, Dr Nara said that CPI is trying to analyse the motive behind using EVMs in the elections to the 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly when most technologically advanced nations in the world like Japan have done away with relying on the results of EVMs.
Use of EVMs is against the spirit of democracy, he added.
