Workshop on Legal Service Authority held

A workshop on the 'Role of Legal Service Authority in Access to Justice and Juvenile Justice' organised by Manipur State Legal Service Authority was held at the hall of the Manipur Film Development Corporation today.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Justice Altamas Kabir, Judge of Supreme Court of India said that the Legal Service Authority plays a vital role in lending legal aid to the poor people.
As such there is the need to give legal awareness to the common people.
The Legal Service Authority has also a big role to play in delivering justice to the needy by disposing of pending cases in the court at the earliest possible.
He also pointed out that 40 percent of the population in the country is children and these children need to be brought up in a proper environment.
So, juvenile justice is equally important.
Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra, Judge, Supreme Court of India, Justice AK Goel, Chief Justice Gauhati High Court; Madan B Lokur, Chief Justice, Andhra Pradesh High Court and Justice Manjula Chelur, Acting CXhief Justice, Kerala High Court were was also present on the occasion.
Two short films brought out by Manipur Legal Service Authority were screened on the occasion apart from releasing a news letter of the Manipur State Legal Service Authority.
