Imphal, July 04 2018:
All Manipur Forward Bloc Manipur State Committee has conveyed that the Central and State Governments has brushed aside all the major issues happening in Manipur including border pillar issue, impasse at Manipur University, demand for 7th Pay Commission and The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 while adding that both the State and the Central Govts have also failed to bring an amicable solution to the prevailing issues in the State.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, All Manipur Forward Bloc Manipur State Committee secretary, Khomdram Ganeshwar stated that the Central and State Governments have neglected to take up any action over the encroachment of land towards Manipur by Myanmar.
It is very unfortunate for the people of Manipur to remain a mere spectator to the encroachment of land by Myanmar in a series of events as the State Government has failed to take any concrete step to stop the encroachment, he added.
Regarding the imbroglio at Manipur University which has been continuing for more than a month now, Ganeshwar alleged that the unethical practices and irresponsible behaviour of Manipur University's Vice Chancellor has led the students, teachers and staff to protest against him.
The university's issue has affected the students and their academic lives apart from destroying the administration of the university, he said.
The Central as well as the State Government should take up remedial actions and bring normalcy in Manipur University at the earliest.
He decried the inaction of the State Government over the prolonged demand of Govt employees for the 7th Pay Commission.
Terming the inaction as biased, he stated that the State Government continue to turn a blind eye even though 7th pay Commission has already been implemented in other neighbouring States.
The Committee's president Ganeshwar further stated that The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, which will be introduced in the coming Parliament session, will greatly affect the North Eastern States.
Bringing in such Bill amidst the prevailing movement for Inner Line Permit System in the State will only add more fuel to the fire, he said.
He stated that it is rather unfortunate for the people of Manipur as the Chief Minister has not spoken up or stood against the Bill, even though Chief Ministers of different North Eastern States have stood against introduction of the Bill.
The All Manipur Forward Bloc Manipur State Committee will resort to intense form of agitation if the Central and State Governments continue to act against the needs and demands of the people.
