Asserting that the State Government is earnestly considering providing economic rehabilitation to Mapithel Dam affected villagers, 43 Phungyar A/C MLA K Leishiyo has claimed that the CM along with a Ministerial team and officials of various departments will visit the areas affected by the dam on July 14 and conduct a survey.
He also informed that setting up an Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Riha village (Kamjong district) and a Kendriya Vidyalaya (school) at Kamjong town are also in the pipeline, where many villagers have been affected by the construction of the dam.
He even said that the Chief Minister has also agreed to a proposal for construction of SDC circle at Mahadev area and opined that the inconveniences faced while travelling long distance by the villagers of Kamjong district in obtaining documents could be minimized to a great extent once it is constructed and starts functioning.
Speaking as chief guest in a function held at Riha village as a part of the Go to Village Mission today, the ML A further elaborated that economic upliftment of displaced villagers and forest/land lost will be considered during the survey.
Under the economic rehabilitation program, initiatives/activities related to horticulture, fishery and animal husbandry etc will also be taken up, he said while asking the villagers to express their problems as well as their wishes in connection with the dam construction to the Ministerial team headed by the CM.
The function presided by Bobby Waikhom, Secretary (Sports/MOBC) was also attended by Zuringla, DC, Kamjong as well.
MLA Leishiyo also distributed free LPG connections to many beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and distributed 30 bags of rice, GI sheets as well as tree saplings to the villagers as part of the program.
