PM's 100 percent electrification has failed: Village chief

When lives in urban areas of the State are enjoying quite uninterrupted supply of electricity, B Bongjang, a village in remote area of Tengnoupal has been reeling under darkness since the last 5 years.
The village with a population of 230 has a shabby electric transformer which is covered with tall grasses and vines.
The transformer stopped working in June of 2014, said Chief of the village Ngamson Baite speaking to media persons who visited the village near Myanmar border.
The village had appealed to the Department of Electricity, Moreh on many occasions, said the Chief.
In October 2015, a Manager of the Electricity Department had visited the village and inspected the problem in person.
But there has been no development till now.
The village had last appealed the concerned department on March 2018, asserted the Chief.
The HT wires and other electrical equipments are in worst of the conditions.
Many of the wires in the village are covered with vines.
Other villages including Kwatha Khunou, Molphei and Shatang have been affected by the situation in the village and are reeling under the same condition, said the Chief.
The BJP Government in the Centre and the State BJP led Government have given priority to electrification of remote villages, but in reality this has been poorly implemented, asserted the Chief.
The Prime Minister's 100 percent electrification has failed, said the Chief.
