TELPB delegates Nepal bound

Imphal, December 21 2014:
Tribal and Endangered Language Promotion Board, Manipur and Social and Cultural Development Institute, Sagolband Tera Loukham Leirak will participate in the Nepal International Dance and Music Festival slated to be held from December 25 to 28 .
A team of 21 folk dance and music artistes will set off for Nepal tomorrow with Dr Th Chandramani as the team manager.
Dr Th Chandramani, during a press meet held at Imphal Movie club today said that a detailed discussion session on the book Sakok Thiren will be held during the festival.
Sakok Thiren has been acknowledged by the Sanamahi Temple Board as one of the four available ancient scriptures of the State.
The first transliteration of the scripture into three different scripts (Meitei Mayek, English and Bengali) was prepared by Dr Th Chandramani.
Former Minister L Bheigyachandra also contributed in the publication of the text, Chandramani added.
He further asserted the possibilities of transliterating the three remaining ancient scriptures into Meitei Mayek, English and Bengali scripts for wider publicity.
Sakok Thiren gives a detailed analysis of the origin of languages and scripts.
The present scripture is believed to have been preserved by Naoriya Phullo after the historical event, Puya Mei Thaba.
