Imphal, August 18 2009:
The BJP National Spokesperson Prakash Javedkar today rejected the judicial inquiry into the Khawairamband incident of July 23 that resulted in the death of two persons and injuries of five others.
Addressing media persons this evening at the state BJP office located at Nityaipat Chuthek, the BJP spokesperson Prakash Javedkar, who is a member of the BJP parliamentary team, said that it was clearly an incident of fake encounter.
The two persons were killed in cold blood, he said.
Holding the Chief Minister responsible for his misleading statement in the Assembly on the incident, and occurrence of the staged encounter in the heart of Imphal, Javedkar said, the CM is trying to make political mileage out of the incident.
Taking a dig at the SPF government, Javedkar said, the image of SPF government has been defaced by the corrupt practices including recruitment and promotions of policemen.
He also said several reports on fake encounter have been tabled by the Manipur Human Rights Commission, but the guilty personnel have been let go scot free.
Saying that Ch Sanjit was a reformed underground activist of PLA, the BJP Spokesperson wondered how the solution to the problem of insurgency is to be brought about.
Prakash also observed that Punjab was infested with militancy for just 20 years.
But Manipur continues to reel with the problem for more than 30 years and demanded solutions to the problems without delay.
He said the Prime Minister will be pressurised to take fitting action after preparing after detail reports in consultation with the national leaders.
Prakash also categorically said that imposition of curfew will not be the solution.
He also asserted that the demands of the BJP are the resignation of the CM and punishment to the guilty personnel.
He also said the party will try to initiate a suo motu case in the Supreme Court.
