Imphal, March 13 2012:
Even as a no confidence motion has been moved against Chairman of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council SH Seipu, 16 members out of the total 26 in the Council have reportedly started camping at an undisclosed place in Sadar Hills to throw him out.
The copies of the no confidence motion have also been reportedly forwarded to the Chief Minister and the President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Thangjakham Misao, member, ADC, who is one among the 16 campers, said that after a long gap of more than two decades, ADC elections were held and elected members were given powers for self government in June 2010.Likewise, for the Sadar Hills ADC members, the authority has given the requisite power to take up development programmes under the leadership of Chairman SH Seipu.
But disregarding all sorts of grass root level governance and development programmes, SH Seipu has taken everything under his control and worked in his own interest.
Thangjakham alleged that Chairperson Seipu never consulted the executive members of the ADC while taking up development programmes in the villages.
As such the members have unanimously resolved to sack him and thus moved a no confidence motion against him in this regard to the Chief Minister and MPCC President.
He further stated that the executive members of the ADC now desire a new Chairperson, who would sincerely work for the welfare of the people.
The 16 members have not been kidnapped by any UG group or activists as claimed by SH Seipu and they could be individually questioned in this regard, Thangjakham said, adding that the decision taken by the members would be final and binding.
