Imphal, February 13 2019:
The Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR), the apex Liangmai student body, has said that a woman died during delivery on Wednesday at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Tamei because of the failure of the State Government to avail adequate facilities in the PHC.
Coming down heavily on the State Government for the cold treatment meted out to the people of Tamei sub division, the apex Liangmai student body said that 38 villages of the sub division are depending on this lone PHC, Tamei.
According to the LNKR, a 30-year old woman died on Wednesday morning during the delivery as the PHC do not have needed facilities.
The student body also said that the baby also died.
The LNKR added that a similar case had also happened few months ago where a woman had also died during delivery.
The apex Liangmai student body also said it is not happy the way the doctors are also working in the PHC.
The LNKR said the doctors at the PHC are inefficient.
The Liangmai student body then alleged that "substitute nurses" are also working in the PHC, Tamei.
"We urge the concerned authorities to see that no substitute nurses work at the PHC, Tamei", the LNKR urged.
Finally, the apex Liangmai student body demanded that the PHC, Tamei is upgraded to CHC at the earliest to meet the needs of the people of Tamei sub division.
