Dr Pallam Raju strikes the right cord in Tamenglong
Becomes Ist Union Minister to visit by road, laid stone for Rs 55 Cr Project

Tamenglong, May 12 2012:
Union Minister of State for Defence Dr.MM Pallam Raju today laid a foundation stone for construction of a 28 km-long new road to connect Old Tamenglong and Longdi Pabram village under Tamenglong district.
Interestingly, Dr Pallam Raju is the only Union Minister who came on land surface to such a remote and backward district of India like Tamenglong to lay the foundation stone for construction of a new road.
In an exclusive interview with Hueiyen Lanpao, Dr.Pallam Raju said that construction on the new road is to be completed by 2014 .
He assured that Tamenglong would have good roads and the works would be started within one and half month.
Just after the laying of foundation stone, Dr.Pallam Raju rushed to Indoor Stadium Tamenglong where he addressed a public meeting and received a number of memorandums from the public.
Addressing the public gathering, Dr.Pallam Raju said that the Government of India is trying to increase and improve road connectivity in Manipur.

"We want to improve the road connectivity in Manipur and Bamboo Mission is another project to be taken in Tamenglong to improve the living condition of the people through housing scheme in Indira Awas Yojana", Dr Pallam Raju said.
Dr Pallam Raju also announced that Tamenglong, which is known for producing high quality Oranges, would soon have orange storage facilities.
The PM office is working on a project in this regard and it would come up soon on after receiving a detailed project report from the state government.
He also urged the district administration and people of Tamenglong to give full cooperation in all the developmental works to be taken up.
Furthermore, the Union Minister assured the public that he would go through each and every memorandum submitted to them and raise the issues in the Parliament.
Minister of PHE, Labour & Employment, Government of Manipur I.Hemochandra and MLA of 53-Tamenglong (ST) Assembly Constituency Jenghemlung Panmei were also among those who spoke at the meeting.
Jenghemlung Panmei expressed hope that the most backward district of India would witness sea changes in term of development following the visit of the Union Minister.
He also appeals to the BRO official to work sincerely for the people of the backwardness district of Tamenglong.
Apart from the two Ministers of the State Government, Dr.MM Pallam Raju was also accompanied by Lt.Gen S Ravi Shankar, PVSM, DG.
